Leaving a Legacy

Sometimes I get introspective and do a little deep thinking. So this Fatherhood Friday I'm asking myself the question, "what the heck are we doing as fathers?"

Since I'm not much of a wordsmith let me bottom-line it for us fathers with this question -- What kind of legacy are you leaving for your children? Long after you have left this world, how are your kids going to remember your life? In asking myself this question here are some first thoughts in no particular order:
  • Dad smiled a lot.
  • He was able to make the tough decisions.
  • He was forgiving.
  • He could clap loud.
  • He trusted God completely.
  • He loved mom with all he had.
  • He thought he was cool.
One way I'm trying to stay connect is our weekly Bageling. If you do something similar I'd love to hear about it.

  1. those look like some good things to be remembered for :)

here's my fatherhood friday which has nothing to do w fatherhood lol 55

  2. Makes one think...thanks for that :-)

  3. Nice list...I definitely think about these things from time to time...what I want my son to take away from having had me in his life...the example that I set...I have some things I need to change in myself for sure, but I think I've got the first two and last two on your list for sure...

  4. "he could clap loud" - LOL

    Happy FF!

  5. LOL, He could clap loud? You need to do a post on that. I am interested to hear where that comes from. :) Happy FF

  6. Sounds like a pretty great legacy you are building.

  7. He said he was proud of me a lot.
He hugged me all the time.
He coached my teams even if he had no idea what he was doing.
He sings in the car all time.
    He made us laugh.
He love mom with all his heart.
He never ever raised his voice at mom.

A couple of mine I just thought of, what a great exercise. I am just not thinking of any bad things for some reason ;)

  8. Awesome list and definitely something to think about.
