Blogging in the Old Days

I started Blogging 15 years ago. I didn't realize it at the time but it was a blog. (That's not me in the picture.)

I was in graduate school and decided to learn some of this new fangled html so I could type letters and save them to the internet.

I would then tell people about my web page and how they could use a computer connected to a modem to read what I wrote. Usually I was asked to print it for them because 90% of them weren't online.

For the fun of it, today I looked back at some the internet stats from way back then. At the end of 1994 there were 38 million internet users in the world (stats). Today there are over 1.5 Billion users (stats).

It's also interesting to note that of these internet users back in the day, they spent 35 minutes a week online. Today the average is 16.75 hours a week, a little under 3 hours a day.

Back in 1994 I had about 5 people a month read my little web site. Now I have about 6 people a month. Thanks for being one of them.
